I published this sloppy joe recipe back in 2018. It’s been a favorite in my household ever since and is one of my most popular blog recipes! I loved Manwich prior to starting keto. Since the ingredients aren’t clean in any of the canned sloppy joe sauces, I decided to make my own version. I kept the ingredients simple when testing out the sauce. You will need: tomato sauce, sugar free ketchup, soy sauce, mustard and a few seasonings. This recipe is simple to make and tastes way better than the canned stuff!
I like using chaffles as the bun for the sloppy joes. I use 1/2 cup shredded cheese (mild cheddar or mozzarella), 1 large egg and 1.5 Tbsp almond flour to make mine. I use the Dash mini waffle maker (linked in my Amazon favorites below) to cook them and it makes 2 chaffles. There are tons of recipe variations available online.
I occasionally serve them on a low carb flatbread, such as Cutdacarb. I just add the sloppy joe mixture and shredded mozzarella into the flatbread, fold it in half, then pan fry until crispy. I never miss the bun! Lettuce wraps are a great option as well! I usually eat them alone, but sometimes pair them with a low carb vegetable. I hope you enjoy!
